Missing Childhood

Longing for the simple moments we can never get back

I miss the days
when life was small
and happiness was just
a candy in my hand.

I miss the mornings
with cartoons and no alarms,
the smell of home
and the sound of mama's voice
calling me to eat.

I miss dirty shoes,
running in the rain,
laughing for no reason
and crying only when I fell.

I miss the feeling
of believing nothing could go wrong,
when my whole world
was just my room,
my school,
and my dreams.

Now the days are louder,
but my heart is quieter.
So many people,
but I still feel alone.

Sometimes,
I look at old photos
and I don’t smile—
I just miss
who I used to be.

I miss dirt roads at sunset,
hiding fireflies in jars,
the fearless dreams whispered beneath blankets,
the secret forts of cardboard castles,
and every goodbye that meant tomorrow was guaranteed.
