Mirror

It is with the eyes that you see me.

But it’s with the EYE that you SEE me.

So even if you believe what you see,

Is that really who I am? Or is it how you view yourself through me?

No matter where you run,

No matter where you hide,

There are some things about self that can’t be denied.

You don’t like the way I look, how I act, or that I lied?

But did you ever stop to think,

“Maybe that’s who I am inside”?

I’m a reflection of you,

And you are a reflection of me.

So whatever faults you find,

Add yourself to the recipe.

Because I’m not perfect,

And neither are you.

So what you think I should work on,

Don’t you think you should, too?

Until you become real with yourself,

I will always be your mirror.

And when you finally heal within,

Your reflection will become clearer.

You will always find faults in others,

Until you dig deep.

And when you finally do,

You will feel lost, broken, and maybe weep.

But that’s okay,

Because if you don’t heal yourself then who?

Who will go inside,

And heal your wounds for you?

We are all the same,

But just in different ways.

So even if you don’t like me now,

Eventually you will one of these days.

One of these days,

When your damaged self is better.

You can start your healing,

By writing a letter.

About why your life the way it is,

Or why you act the way you do.

But until you become aware of those things,

I will always mirror you.
