Minnesota Boy

A story about the city and boy I fell for.

I want to kiss a Minnesotan boy

I want to feel the pine on his lips

As the local musical artists swirl around us in harmony

I want to grab his hips

As if I were the minnehaha waterfall

And he were the rocks

Gripping to the sides of the water

I want to feel the stereotyped niceness in his chest

And hear the reality of passive aggression in his voice

Whenever he speaks

I want to kiss him

On top of the bridge

That overlooks downtown Minneapolis

And as our mouths collide

The skyline will light up

All the coffee shops will go quiet

The lake Harriet band shell performers

Will play a tune no one has ever heard

And the deer on the outskirts of the north

Will perk their ears up

As if the heard our synchronized breaths

And I

I will look him in the eyes

I will look him in the eyes and speak

"I never want to move away"
