Minding Our Business
Mind ya business just mind ya business

We will sit back, quiet, in the shade,
A fire rages, yet we remain unafraid.
The world is burning, flickers in the air,
But no one calls, no one cares.
We’ve given the world its chances, twice,
Watched it struggle, in its own device.
Now, we rest, no longer the guide,
For this fire, it’s not ours to tame or hide.
They asked for wisdom, we spoke our truth,
But they took the warmth and burned the youth.
Now, with silence, we make our stand,
Let the world crumble as it was planned.
For when the walls fall and the winds rage,
When the earth cracks and the skies in cage,
They’ll know who stayed, who built and who gave,
And we’ll be watching from a distance, brave.
We’ve carried the load, and carried the dream,
But now we’re just watching the world scream.
Without us, they’ll fall—let them see,
The power they wanted was always in WE.
So WE will sit back, & let it burn.
A lesson, long overdue, they’ll learn.
Minding our black business, while they fight,
For without us, the world has no light.
I’m taking this poem personally, because it hits home,
In my life, my friends, my family—my own.
I find that when I mind my business, I’m free,
No real arguments, no needless plea.
Sometimes, if I just let things be,
Maybe it’s peace, maybe it’s clarity.
