jealousy and its effects

Jealousy slinks around deserted corners,

Slithering through alleys, dropping poisonous pearls of verdigris to sink below the surface and take root, tiny snakes of jade twisting their minute serpentine bodies into every thought sifting through uncomplicated minds,

devouring self, digesting respect

into muddy snail trails of slime,

obscuring the beauty of this multitude of fragmented hope shards, forcing

hard, jagged edges of fear into every broken crevice, bringing death and destruction with every ragged intake of breath, despair breeding in every fissure,

this desolation of an unreal world, overflowing with the cold emptiness

of furnished vacant rooms

populated by pretenders.

I love how the metaphors make jealousy feel almost tangible, creeping and consuming. It’s dark, powerful, and incredibly evocative.

Oh my. I really love how you turned jealousy into a sly, predatory creature that slinks and slithers. Your description of the "poisonous pearls of verdigris" is great; it makes me think of something that looks beautiful but is actually just poison. The way you described these invasive thoughts corrupting "uncomplicated minds" is so effective.
