Summer heat is long gone
And we bid sweet adieu to Autumn
But there is joy in Winter’s embrace.
Bright lights adorn homes like gingerbread houses
Twinkling of ornaments on trees peek out of our neighbor’s windows
A hush settles upon the world when blanketed in snow
But quickly comes alive with carolers and merry making
Tepid scents fill homes as meals are made
Crackling of fireplace entice hibernation
Gifts wrapped in shiny paper are exchanged
Delicious beverages warm the soul
Stockings with holiday treasures waiting to be enjoyed
Adventures and shenanigans are enjoyed in the pages of books or illuminated on the screen
Children laughing
People dancing
And kisses over champagne or under mistletoe are customary
Strangers showing good will to one another
Families bonded with generations under one roof
It’s a time for love
For family
For good will towards man
And for peace on Earth.
