Memory Lane
And Other Paths
By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

I look around at a beautiful life
Still caught in dreams of yesterday
Maybe tomorrow it’ll be alright
Can’t seem to find it today
But I remember….
How could I forget
That summer together
That last cigarette
Those words that were whispered
that night in your hands
The fire that blistered
And destroyed all our plans
Time ticked on like a river
Flowing fast through the trees
And all those emotions
Were swept away on the breeze
But you're still the one
remembering brings me to my knees
Though the damage is done
Memories of when we were we

"Memories of when we were we" aaaaah stunning!
Makes you think in more ways than one.
This poem seems more lyrical than anything. It sets a dreary picture and a forlorn tone but still allows the reader to get familiar with the world that it presents.
