Memories Out of Frame

An elegy

By Judah LoVatoPublished 3 months ago 1 min read
The fathers dance

How long ago- this moment captured here

In the sunny park when our fathers danced

One turning the other like swing step pros

While somewhere near our mothers laughed

All out of frame... and grandma made it there

to visit us on our wedding day

though frail and weak in her wheelchair

while my aunt stayed close to tend her-

And my friend and mentor, we called Chef Rod

Had come to visit us from Madison

To celebrate our wedding and recall

How he met my dad when he got lost-

Just off frame of the moment captured here

So many memories of those held dear.

Which I've left "there" for seekers to seek

Though I lack the grandeur of that Pirate King

Perhaps these pebbles can be a light

In this life, this laughing tale
