The rain falls softly on the pavement
As I stand here all alone
The memories of what we had
Echo in the empty space of home

The laughter and the joy we shared
Now lost in the silence of the night
For the love we had was once so strong
But now it's faded, out of sight

The pain that's eating at my soul
For the love we had was once so real
But now it's just an empty hole

As I think of what we used to be
For the love we had was once so pure
But now it's just a memory

The memories of our love remain
In the shadows of my mind
For the love we had was once so beautiful
But now it's left me far behind

The rain washes away the pain
But it can't bring back what's gone
For the love we had was once so true
But now it's just a fading song

The memories in the rain remain
For the love we had was once so strong
But now it's just a love that's been set

Set adrift in the winds of time
The memories of our love will stay
For the love we had was once so real
But now it's just a love that's gone away

So I'll stand here in the rain
For the love we had was once so beautiful
But now it's just a love that's died.
