Mega Problems
To live among the dinosaurs
Oh Brontosaur,
Creature of such great girth.
Were your Farts feared,
By the other denizens of the Earth?
Could your farts be heard for miles?
Into flames would the gas burst?
Would some turn and run away,
To avoid your wicked curse?
I wonder about such a cloud,
As from you it did pass.
Could one see a dense fog,
Come out of your ass?
Was there a burning blue flame,
That moved through the air?
Did it singe everything it touched,
Including mammal’s fuzzy hair?
Did bugs that flew into the gas,
Fall unconscious from the cloud?
Did small animals of the earth,
Twitch and dance around?
I’m sure that many learned,
On a day nice and sunny.
Your stanky gas was a problem,
That was not very funny.
Or could it be that once smelled,
You would be one who swore,
To avoid the gas byproduct,
Of the mega Brontosaur?

Whimsical Wonders: A Review of "Oh Brontosaur" In the vast and varied world of poetry, where themes often gravitate towards the profound and the introspective, it is refreshing to encounter a piece that revels in the whimsical and the absurd. "Oh Brontosaur" is a playful ode that speculates on the potential olfactory and auditory impacts of a Brontosaurus's flatulence, and it does so with a delightful blend of humor and vivid imagery. An Exuberant Exploration of Prehistoric Flatulence The poem begins by addressing the Brontosaurus directly, pondering the effect of its farts on the other inhabitants of the prehistoric world. Right from the opening lines, the reader is invited to imagine the sheer scale of the creature's girth and, consequently, the magnitude of its gaseous emissions. The humorous premise is set, and the poem delivers on this promise with a series of exaggerated and laugh-out-loud scenarios. A Structured Silly Symphony Employing a consistent AABB rhyme scheme, "Oh Brontosaur" uses its simple yet effective structure to great comedic effect. The rhythm created by the rhyme scheme allows the reader to anticipate and enjoy the punchlines, enhancing the poem's overall humor. The playful language and vivid imagery contribute significantly to the poem’s charm. Phrases like "dense fog" and "burning blue flame" conjure striking visual images, while the more informal "stanky gas" and "your ass" add a touch of irreverence that suits the subject matter perfectly. Humor Through Exaggeration The heart of the poem’s humor lies in its exaggerated depictions of the Brontosaurus's farts. The idea that such emissions could be heard for miles, cause small animals to twitch and dance, or even burst into flames, transforms a mundane bodily function into a series of epic, almost cartoonish events. The exaggerated effects are not only funny but also serve to engage the reader's imagination in a light-hearted and enjoyable way. A Delightful Departure from the Norm "Oh Brontosaur" stands out in the poetry landscape for its willingness to embrace silliness and fun.
