We do our best with what we've got.

Hello,

Well, I know you don’t know me

But believe me, I know you

See, I’ve grown to love the man

your little boy grew into

If only you could see him now

I know you'd be so proud

He looks just like you

But I guess that much you knew...

But you should see him when he smiles

When he stands up straight with pride

When he dances he has no rhythm

But there's strength in every stride

He knows how to treat a lady

There’s so much kindness in his heart

He’s humble, honest, and I promise

I've loved him from the start

I love him something awful, sir

More than any woman should

But you're little boy won’t have me.

‘Cause he's afraid he never could

If you could see me now you'd wonder

Why's this girl crying on my grave?

Asking why I left so early

When all I wanted was to stay?

It's ‘cause I know how much he needs you

And all the love you could’ve gave

You always saw right through him

You always knew just what to say

I know I never knew you

But, God, I wish you were here today

Now I'm left to watch the rain

Come down on every sunny day.

Well, I'm sorry to disturb you

I guess there's not much else to say.

It's just time for me to leave.

It’s just time for me to pray.

So goodbye, Sir

It was a pleasure to meet you

Much love from me to you,

and much love from your boy, too.

yes, from your boy, too
