MEET ME AT THE GLEANERS

sudden emotion

By CarmenJimersonCrossPublished 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 1 min read

From Across the Room, across the stage

that quirky smile plays havoc with my mind

a twinkle in eyes that laugh on the rim of words unsaid

put quiet until mention of

the red... Ohhh the red is what swims (can see it in his head)

collected "boy toys" that threatens to make someone rich

beyond his dreams

...if she'd wait 'til after he's gone

Meet me at the fairgrounds

see ya at the gleaner

our gleaners number nine

the line to pull me from my safe place

in my coffee waiting line.

Tremors put to motion

and puts me on the road

toward the ploys... the terror from across the miles

trip hazards

and barn buzzards

and the "what's inside" that stimulates his imagination

and the "other girls" ...competition

then the "little girls" first ignition

spent on the fashion's show

(they all look alike) and then back around to

the "meet me out there

at a field day tractor show."

Foundation of the nation

Table pleaser

"good ole boy"

Amid the crowd he's lured

...and me

different from the eye catching gaze

on the television's stage

because butterflies kill any mood.
