Meet in the heat

A Summer's Day sonnet

By Anastasia AntoinettePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

As the sweat drips down your glowing round face

I wonder can you feel it too my love

Hotter than July always in this place

Yet you smile then that’s all I can think of

Would I be the one now to make a change

Turn the season down and speed up the time

For you I would make do to rearrange

Sun for some but the clouds do come divine

Maybe this is what they meant by summer

A warmth inside that drops by like a friend

The beaming of rays that stay and hover

So intense with no intent to the end

Collect what you can in this moment dear

And I’ll see you again same time next year
