The heart is a fool, of course.
It sprints up staircases, sings off-key,
proposes in a crowded restaurant.
The brain folds its arms, drafts a prenup.
The lungs sigh so hard they almost implode. Violently.
The stomach dry-heaves. The skin peels in protest.
The hands? They text. Then delete. Again.

Great imagery and entry!
What a perfect strong opening. I like your attention to detail. Describing the impulsiveness of the heart. How it springs up stairs and sings off key. The imagery of proposing in a crowded restaurant was a nice touch. It’s familiar and we’ve all seen it happen, it held my attention. The brain sounds like it’s working properly, but the heart isn’t lol Oooo I looooove that bit about the lungs, how incredibly fitting and poetically lush when it’s spoken. 👌🏽 After reading the last two lines, I can’t pick a favourite. This whole poem was cleverly done, taking every opportunity possible, to hit us with a profound line. Outstanding work Tiffany 👏🏽👌🏽🤗♥️
