Map of Wounds

Verse 1
Estrangement never rises from one heart alone,
It’s a tangle of wounds we carried, a truth never owned.
Two shadows in a doorway, both afraid to speak,
Both pointing fingers and pretending that the fault was only yours.
Verse 2
Baby, I won’t carry all the blame you keep trying to assign,
I won’t shoulder every burden just to keep your story aligned.
You can rewrite the memories, but I won’t play that role—
I’m not the villain in a tale we both wrote long ago.
Chorus
It takes two hearts breaking,
Two voices gone still,
Two truths left unspoken
For distance to build.
You can paint me as the darkness,
But I know what’s been done—
Estrangement isn’t born
From only one.
It takes two hearts breaking,
Two voices gone still.
Verse 3
One day I hope you’ll find the courage to finally see
The mirror doesn’t lie when you’re acting honestly.
Compassion isn’t weakness, and truth is never kind,
But healing only happens when you face what you design.
Chorus
It takes two hearts breaking,
Two voices gone still,
Two truths left unspoken
For distance to build.
You can paint me as the darkness,
But I know what’s been done—
Estrangement isn’t born
From only one.
It takes two hearts breaking,
Two voices gone still,
Bridge
I won’t wear your sorrow,
I won’t hold your shame,
I won’t be the monster
You built to take the blame.
We both shaped the silence,
We both fed the divide—
Only truth can close the distance
If you ever choose to try.
Chorus
It takes two hearts breaking,
Two voices gone still,
Two truths left unspoken
For distance to build.
You can paint me as the darkness,
But I know what’s been done—
Estrangement isn’t born
From only one.
It takes two hearts breaking,
Two voices gone still,
