Your heart, the moon
Far away and cold.
Eclipsed by pain
From wounds deep and old
I can never live inside.
Shrouded in hurt,
your light sometimes shines through,
Flickering, fleeting glimpses of you.
Unattainable, distant and so beautiful to me
But I know, you’re the man in the moon.
My heart the sea, reflects your every move
My ebb and tide conform to follow you.
Unfathomed depths longing for your light.
Then like the moon, you fade into the night,
Left in the dark, heartsick, too tired to fight.
I’m broken, shattered, lost and all alone,
But your light’s not mine,
you’re the man in the moon
And the man in the moon doesn’t feel
So he never tries,
And the man in the moon doesn’t care
So he never cries.
Does he know he’s lonely
Is that why he’s blue?
Silver beams, like tears falling down.
Caress my face
as they stream t’wards the ground
And for one minute, one second,
I pretend that you love me.
But you never will
You’re the man in the moon.
About the Creator
Lost Child
Never alone, always lonely. Lost in music. Found in song. An afterthought to some. A priority to others. Happy most of the time. In tears the rest. Complicated, considerate, contradictory, compassionate.

The way you expressed this emotion without overexplaining it… perfection.
