A poetic ode to holidays at the mall

You gotta love those first couple months after fall.

They captivate us all. There just ain’t nothing like Christmas at the mall.

When holiday season comes around I can’t fall back.

I gotta be where the people are I’m a mallrat.

During holidays the mall is always packed to capacity.

Adults and children prance around the mall so happily.

They can’t help but be so happy for this season.

It’s during these times that giving carries bigger meaning.

Santa Clause’s chair is in the middle of the mall.

Children spot him and then it’s come one come all.

They tell him what they want and he promises it swift.

His presence alone is already the greatest gift.

As for me I just love to watch everyone shop around.

Enjoying the holiday festivities of this in door town.

I never get tired of these times when my mind calls back Christmas.

That’s just me. J-o-e who loves a mallrat Christmas.

I guess people who are mall rats need to wonder how many stores will be open at their malls when stores are closing at alarming rates. But you have captured the season the way we want it to be and the way we remembered it fondly, Great poem.
