Making Broken Promises

A poem

By Annie WenzlickPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

Falling, I saw you reach for the thread,

Promises, you told I thought you could never bend.

Truth that was hidden I wish I could unsee.

Falling you reach for the threads,

Pulling and twisting, I see the effects.

Before you lies the greatest of them all.

Always waiting, I wander would you ever pull,

Easily the strings would dismantle.

Yet you wrap them with such difficulty,

Ever will you see the knotts you make?

About the Creator

Annie Wenzlick

I have always loved reading Syfy and fantasy-based novels. With my active imagination, I spent most of my childhood imagining I was the heroine charging off to save the day. Now I use that imagination to write and draw my dreams.

I really liked the way you wrote this poem. You put emphasis on words like, "Pulling", "Promises", "Threads". You reused the same words, but in a different way, and it work beautifully. I loved how you ended the poem with talking about the threads being made into knots. You should write more of these poems!
