List of Letters: Devol

I smell like abortion

and I think I’m sorry—

so you may judge me not to

judge me

but to love me in the end.

If you have any quarrels

you may take them

up with my hangers.

They hold the coats

of politicians and toxic lovers.

There is a certain displacement

Between your reality

and mine.

I don’t know where my lesson is,

but I will learn your pessimism.

I dare you to bully me;

be sure to give me a months supply.

You can rest easy knowing I am terrified.

And so you'll know I'm sincere,

I will cut off my finger tips and preserve only the bloody halves.

Don’t be a tourist,

stay awhile;

take photos if you must

 but know that

I keep records of those that come here.
