That lingers in the hush before the sun,
A fragile note, like a song nearly gone,
Yet etched in my soul long after it's sung.
You are the moon, casting silver upon
The darkest rivers where shadows would drown,
A quiet pulse that hums softly through stone,
Turning even sorrow to something profound.
With every glance, the world shimmers anew,
Time slows its hand, caught in your gentle grace.
The stars seem to listen, the night seems to bloom,
As if all the heavens are carved in your face.
You are the silence where I find my peace,
The breath that I hold, the sigh I release.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
