“What makes you glimmer and grin?
Why do you shine and light up the night
for a world so riddled with sin?”

The Moon, with a wink and a smile, replied
to the jealous star far in the sky,
“these precious souls who reside down below,
are the sparkles that gleam in my eye.”

“The debt of my birth I owe to the Earth
from the dust of its clouds we are one
destined by chance to this nocturnal dance,
an eternal pirouette ‘round the sun.”

“Lovers and Poets swoon at my sight
kindled by artistic fire,
they dare to imagine the depths of their passion
and dream of a life I inspire.”

and in return, I, from my perch in the sky,

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
