Pennies And Wishing Wells

I’ve been collecting lyrics

like lint and pocket change

Faceless scattered spirits

whispering their names

Shadows dancing

on your skin

Deep romancing

from within

Building fires

to light the way

regret, desire

sharing a flame

Ashes to ashes

and back again

Striking the matches

feeling no pain

What you’re searching for

has always been

Behind that door

you're hiding in

Nickels and dimes

cannot buy your freedom

Rhythm and rhymes

surrender where you've been

You settle for green

while chasing a dollar

But somewhere between

you don't remember what for

So toss all your pennies

In lost wishing wells

Every day’s a beginning

where you’ll go, time will tell

It’s like we collect bits of life, not realizing what we’re really searching for. It’s not the money or the stuff — it’s the journey that matters. Great job!

  • Most of the wishes I have left seem to be for others, including at least one for you, my friend. I wish you well.

  • Very well written! I really love this one!!!
