Lucky Mom

A poem about how lucky and grateful I am for the children that I have.

How did I get so lucky to have children like you two?

You are the reasons I now know a love so unconditional and true.

My life has been a struggle since I was around your age,

How much pain I have suffered in my lifetime is difficult for me to gauge.

You have brought a light into my life so perfect and so pure,

that imagining it without you is something I just can’t endure.

I may not get to see you every single day,

But a second doesn’t pass me without you on my mind some way.

See you have touched me oh so deeply inside my heart,

That you are always with me even when we are apart.

To say that I'm proud of who you have become,

Just isn’t enough praise for all you have overcome.

You both are full of love and compassion that every day you selflessly share,

I love watching all the ways you show everyone around you that you care.

People who know you see just how great you truly are,

Even complete strangers can see jyour splendor from afar.

I wish I could have been the mother you both honestly should have had,

If only I could turn back time, I wouldn’t have been so bad.

I would soak in every moment that went by way too fast,

I would replay each and every second of your sweet and precious past.

I would have read each bedtime story just a few more hundred times,

And held you long after you started snoring listening to your favorite nursery rhymes.

I definitely wouldn’t have been so impatient when you cried,

And I wouldn’t have been so angry at you even when you lied.

All the moments I look back on now that they have come and gone,

Are all the times I wish I could magically go back in time and somehow restumble upon.

I love and cherish each day of my life I am blessed to share with you,

I wish that you could really see how much I truly love you two.

As I watch you continue to grow my daughter and my son,

I pray for your happiness as now your life has just begun.
