The hot days are best--

I sip from your cup

Take a good bite out of me, yes.

One more good one! Wait, my turn. Don't let it end so soon, I hear you say.

Luck lets me hold you, life lets you slip away.

You are an old wish I kept away in a box.

A coin I did not earn. A fire I did not feed but was very glad to burn.

Soft I fall in! I melt. Turn you over.

I know our luck love is for a bit of time, like a song I will want to hear more of and over.

I took this pure luck, but not what was true:

The sun did cool off--this I long knew,

I'm kept at bay, by wind and by you.

I sink down.

Our time has come to a cold stop. Hard-I fall out.

You put the lid on the box,

and left it on the hot sand.

And I took it, back into that cold lake I swam

To bury it, I dove down deep

Out of fear, and what I felt when you said

You did not want a life with me, be it far, or near.

You did not want a life with me, we are not in a rut,

I am not the wish in your box, nor am I the luck.
