Lucid

dream rules

By Ulysses TuggyPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

My dreams have rules.

If I see you

and look away

you will change

or be gone

so my eyes don't blink

if I want you to stay.

If a monster chases you

stop

turn around

and look it in the face

until it is sorry

then we can catch the bus.

That bus will never go

where we want to be

but it will go somewhere.

From there,

we can squeeze our arms

to our sides

and float like those bubbles.

We can also jump over fences

and those houses

and those mountains

but be careful where you land.

If you fall into the sea

the water isn't cold, anyway.

Relax, you don't have to breathe.

If we see an island

try to swim slowly

if we swim too fast

when we get there

that island will be too small

with boats like toys.

If we look around

we can find anything

as long as the dream does know

what we wanted to find.

Anything is possible

but if you ask for everything

nothing will happen

so accept something instead.

When we argue with the dead

and grieve for the living

if you lose your voice

keep talking anyway

they will know

what we wanted to say

and what we should have said all along.
