Self-love is the road toward healing. These prompts are an invitation to step inside yourself. Rupi Kaur

Loving macaroons is easy to do

just as it is loving you

Self-love is important too

it sounds like conceited goo

and it’s not at all Boo

it is necessary to pursue!

Rupi Kaur’s Self-Love Writing Prompts — I need to stop comparing myself to ___________________ because _____________________.

I need to stop comparing myself to other writers. I need to focus on improving my writing and not worry about what others are doing because there will always be writers who are better writers than me! That is a fact. I can improve my writing, but I can’t do anything about anothers writing.

And then there is poetry!

There will always be poets

way better than me

get over it, I know its

true and there is nothing I can do

but grin and bare it

Relax and let time take its course to

make you a great rhyming poet.

Rupi Kaur’s Self-Love Writing Prompts — How will you show up for yourself today?

Today, a friend and I went to a diabetes education class. She is not diabetic, but her husband is. The roundtrip drive takes 3 hours. We had lunch on the road. It is a fun day overall. The class is 2.5 hours.

Diabetics are in so much denial about the illness. And family members are too. I try to stay current, and that is what the class helps me to do.

I started with this program as my primary was not taking my A1C regularly. I have had times when it was taken every 3 or 4 months.

Granted I am not on pills or insulin right now, even though I have been diabetic since 2001. I am currently working on prevention of type 3 diabetes. It was surprising but the providers aren’t aware of type 3.

The professional looking over my meter

the continuous glucose monitor

said I am doing great!

I am first-rate

and within the range set for me.

I knew that anyway, you see

checking the meter and feeling glee.

Rupi Kaur’s Self-Love Writing Prompts — What’s a boundary you are currently struggling to set for yourself?

From 1984 until 2004, I worked with program participants individually and in groups during that time. I worked as a substance abuse counselor for the first ten years and then as a family/couples therapist for the last ten years.

After that, I worked in policy positions and as a prevention and substance abuse consultant until I retired in 2016.

Because of my background, it is difficult to stay away from working as a therapist/counselor at times. I am working part-time and that helps as I can use those skills there.

It may also be part of the problem because I am using the counseling training may be why I continue even when not working. I can’t say others always notice but I do. Boundaries are important to me, and this is one that I will set for myself.

You are powerful after everything happened. I feel this story is also is spent for me, many sides of it are like the way I am struggling for my life
