Lovers IV: The Broken

Beware the shards of a broken heart

We could choose not to fight,

not be alone for one night.

Let's make Valentine's

the day we put things right.

Gather the shards

and razor parts

of our exploded past

and try not to cut ourselves.

If you can't, I understand.

If you don't love me,

neither can I.

Ouch. I thought "romantic" as I read through it until those last two lines. So much riding on new relationships. Love the succinctness of this and how much power and depth you pack into it. Thank you for sharing this as part of your submissions for the book as it meant I got to read it. Will let you know which I chose in the comments section of that piece! :)

Wow so deep and really strong emotion of wanting to love again.

  • I feel this one, Addison. Those last two lines hit close to home.
