The Backstory: I wrote these words over a series of lunch breaks in a quiet garden when we first met. Years later, I read them aloud as part of our wedding vows. It is a reflection on a love that feels both wild and grounded. The kind of love that makes eternity feel like a short amount of time.
Endowing, exuberant, and all encompassing.
A feeling that is ever winding, like a fleet of wild horses, galloping for miles;
unfettered, delivered, and disenthralled.
A tenderness that can analogize the warm soft breeze grazing your face on a sunny day,
or the wondrous beauty of a stardusted meadow.
Within your arms brings a foundation,
an arboured nook of strength and protection.
Like the sturdiness of a wise old oak tree;
grounded, anchored, and strapping.
Thoughts of time and glimpses of a future with you deliver a joy I never knew existed.
My covetous heart longs for the tethering of our two souls,
but suddenly
eternity does not seem long enough.
