Love’s lobotomy
A Shakespearean sonnet from an ill heart and mind
By Kenneth cruzPublished 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

Our ecstasy was a lobotomy
Spirit, heart, and brain severed and rewired
A fiend consumed by thoughts of you and me
Pangs of desire for your essence transpired
I swear our spirits intwined every time
Your soft whispers penetrating my soul
Your eyes meeting mine as you arch your spine
I wouldn’t guess love could burn like hot coal
Lost as to why with you I felt at home
How can a love so pure and sure be wrong
I convinced myself our hearts would not roam
And as you waned my agony prolonged
Only now in the end would I refrain
Loves lobotomy wouldn’t leave me sane
