Love is a Rainbow

A tribute to classical children's poetry

By Nat KowalPublished 5 years ago โ€ข 1 min read

If I could paint a rainbow

I would paint it with you,

We could explore all of the colours

from vermillion through to blue.

We'd dip a brush in sunlight

Streak gold across the sky,

Pick a field of daisies

and throw them up way up high!

๐ŸŒผ

We'd weave an arch of clovers

In iridescent green,

It would be the lushest thing

you have ever seen!

โ˜˜

To create a dash of red

We'd teach the ladybugs

to fly in sync,

And underneath a flock of hummingbirds,

Would that work do you think?

๐Ÿž

We'd juice a grove of oranges and pour it across the sky,

Weave a wreath- cornflower blue,

And pin it up on high.

๐ŸŠ

Finally I would reach far up

and steal the twinkle from each star,

And dust it over all the hues

so they shimmered from afar.

โญ

If I could paint a rainbow

I would paint it just for you,

And if I did, would you unlock your heart

And come to love me too?
