Love created a home

and saved me

Love created a home

Once a void lived deep inside of me

I kept it hidden. I didn’t want anyone to see.

The wrath and loneliness consuming

Without love, I wasn’t blooming.

Your love was a fire that burned away,

Everything threatening to lead me astray.

You filled my void and gave me the strength to be,

The authentic person buried deep inside of me.

Safety was your gift and love your blessing.

You healed me with your kissing and caressing.

Our love built a fortress of four walls,

Arms to hold me close when danger calls.

Love created a home from floor to ceiling

And I learned that home can be a feeling.

I falsely assumed it could only be a place,

Home is a treasure I found in your embrace.
