The firefly squid
lives in deep waters
where its bioluminescence
helps it communicate
and attract food.
Once a year,
it propels to the shore to spawn,
but the blue light it emits
attracts both mates
and fishermen.
So finding love
can also mean sure death.
Babe, we've got it good.

Interesting take and a bit chilling. :3
Nice analogy, and very apt! You just summarised perfectly how it feels to be female in this world 🌍
Dang, that took a turn! Love, survival, and existential dread all wrapped up in a glowing squid. Brutally poetic and weirdly romantic—absolute gold!
Glad I'm not a squid.
Ohhh this was genius
Haha 🤣 This is great! 😊
How many lover’s in nature’s panoply sacrifice all in love’s pursuit? Spawning salmon, male praying mantis’, male Black Widows, etc, etc. We certainly have it good in comparison! This is a lovely and ironic poem, Cade. Good luck in the challenge!
Great work.
