Love At First Sight/Love 30 Years Later

When You're Lucky Enough To Fall In Love Twice

By Misty RaePublished 4 years ago 1 min read
The way we were

You walked into the room,

Tall,

Proud,

Almost arrogant.

Full of the exuberance,

And confidence of youth’s promise.

As you noticed me,

Noticing you,

The air thickened,

A mix of fear, of lust

And anticipation,

you took my hand,

Sparks

Flew,

And the rest is history.

Love's "not so young" dream

Time changes everything,

That’s what they say,

But does it really?

Decades pass,

Lives lived,

No words exchanged.

I walked in

Tall,

Proud,

Almost arrogant,

Full of the confidence

Of a middle-aged swan.

As I notice you,

Noticing me,

The air thickens,

A mix of comfort, of love,

And homecoming.

You take my hand,

Sparks

Fly

And the rest is history,

Again.
