Proud,

Almost arrogant.

Full of the exuberance,

And confidence of youth’s promise.

As you noticed me,

Noticing you,

The air thickened,

A mix of fear, of lust

And anticipation,

you took my hand,

Sparks

Flew,

And the rest is history.

That’s what they say,

But does it really?

Decades pass,

Lives lived,

No words exchanged.

I walked in

Tall,

Proud,

Of a middle-aged swan.

Noticing me,

A mix of comfort, of love,

And homecoming.
