I sit beside you, I can't hear a word you say,

I'm lost in your eyes, so beautiful and far away,

because I'm not yours, you're not mine,

you're hers, and I feel it with each passing day,

that I am lost and alone.

I hate the way this makes me feel,

alone and unloved, uncared for, like a fish on a reel,

but I will not you from her steal,

because I hope that though I don't see it,

the happiness between you is real.

Some day I hope,

Some day I pray,

that you will be mine,

to hold and to love,

to laugh with and smile for,

Some day I wish,

that beautiful smile will be for me,

Some day I want, to know the feel of your kiss.

I don't care about age,

I don't care about experience,

you are the reason I smile,

you are the reason I laugh.

So though I cannot say what I feel,

I can at least tell you this:

Thank you, thank you,

for all you have done,

for teaching me to smile,

for making me laugh,

for pulling me out of this depression,

so bad I thought it would last,

thank you for helping me forget the past,

thank you for taking me in and giving me a home,

though it's not in your arms,

and I wish for you only happiness with whomever you choose.
