Lost Love

A Broken Heart's Lament

By ik dogenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

My heart is heavy, my spirit low,

For love that once did brightly glow,

Has now departed, left to go,

And left me here, in bitter woe.

We once were one, our souls entwined,

Our love a flame, forever kind,

But now that flame has been confined,

To memories, that haunt my mind.

My days are long, my nights are cold,

With love no more, my heart grown old,

And though I try, I can't withhold,

The pain that comes with growing old.

So here I sit, with tears in my eyes,

And mourn the love, that's now gone by,

For though I loved with all my might,

It wasn't enough, to make it right.

Now I'm left, with broken dreams,

And shattered hopes, or so it seems,

For love that once was all I knew,

Has left me here, with naught to do.

So I'll just sit, and let it be,

My broken heart, for all to see,

And hope that someday, I'll be free,

From love that's lost, eternally.
