Lost In The Soil

A dream was swallowed by the dirt and changed into something else.

Sink, sweet dreams, into the soil.

The wet black soot of the Earth

Hungers for your bones.

Sink, gentle soul, into the deep ocean.

Drown.

Succumb to the pressure, fracture,

And perish.

.

Change.

Slip into a new suit and emerge on the banks

As a product of decay,

A creature that gives no quarter.

Let the cool winter sands be warm

To your bloodless skin, cold like the dead of winter.

The war ended already and the ocean ate at your scars.

.

A dream no longer but a finely woven nightmare,

Look at how beautiful you have become,

Shimmering beneath the empty blackness

Of a night with no moon,

Emitting your own twisted rays of light.

It is in your bones,

It is of your blood.

.

What was will never be again.

It fell into the deep pits of the soil,

Exploded in the sky where oxygen is thin

And dreams cannot survive.

Its spine, broken beneath the crushing weight

Of still waters

And shrewd eyes, watching, watching, watching.

.

You no longer need to breathe in the condescension

Flowing from polluted words

Nor must you endure bones splintered

From the weight of guilt placed on your shoulders.

A dream acquiesces,

But a nightmare demands.

And you will never be a dream again.

About the Creator

Silver Daux

Shadowed souls, cursed magic, poetry that tangles itself in your soul and yanks out the ugly darkness from within. Maybe there's something broken in me, but it's in you too.
