Loss

Without you.

Salt in the rain that stains my face.

Rainboots splash in the puddles beneath.

Dried by the beat of butterfly wings.

Breathing life into sadness, overwhelmed by its heaviness.

The weight only lifted with each drop of rain,

carving pathways of relief into my heart.

Broken in…

Weathered away by feelings that don’t want to be felt.

Callused and worn it fades.

The feelings, the sadness, the tears, and the fear,

That it will all take you over and pull you under.

It will take you under to a place you can’t come back from.

The salt will stain, the boots will splash, breath will breathe

And we will hope in the wings of butterflies.
