Leaving beloved cities, four times I've gone,
each departure
a heartbreak.
Memories linger, both cherished and painful, yet all mine.
They exist as developed photos
unseen by most.
Brain paintings
colouring my lonely days and nights,
encouraging,
swirling,
dripping.
Like paint on a canvas, but with words,
drawing inspiration from
all locations for
actions and feelings.
My characters are having a ball.
Juggling, stirring the water.
Far from home, or close by?
I'm always uncertain because
everything blurs and fades away.
New, unheard stories emerge
like jazz music, complex and evolving.
I searched
for a new place for them
where they can flourish, spreading their wings.
Free from distractions,
a single digit points to societal ills
which isn't always ideal.
I'll revamp everything, adding vibrancy.
Challenge and dissent,
discarding,
outdated, unhelpful habits -
Who needs them, really?
Why cling to the past when innovation beckons?
It sings of renewal, no looking back.
It offers fresh horizons and boundless joy.
The future beckons.
So, it was all worthwhile in the end.
With no regrets, heart's content,
confidence soaring.
In new surroundings,
shaped by the past,
never satisfied, always wanting more.
