Longing

Seeking the Muse

The exhilaration of

Being carried off on a

Runaway horse

Grasping at whipping reigns

Slipping from desperate hands

Furtively imagining my

last best course

searching the landscape for the

softest eventual landing pad

~~~
Saving scraps of scraps
of dissected poems
Pinned together
With pigeon feathers
Until I can sew the
Perfect wedding dress
a patchwork sonnet
turned to gold
~~~

Perfect words

Fill glass candy jars

lining shelves, stacking my walls

To renew my sagging spirit

I pop a few letters back

Sweet and tangy

Today deserves two bits

~~~
My precious muse
I treasure you
Every scrap, every taste
I long to utilize
To the full
