Lofty Made Up Morals

Take a drag off your Marlboro

By Robin EdwardsPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Lofty Made Up Morals

Take your holy opinions

And your lofty made up morals

Point your finger right back at you

Take a drag off your Marlboro

You are no better

Than the ones you like to judge

Someday someone’s gonna push you off

that dollar tree store rug

You’re just a two bit hustler

Hustlin’ other people’s lives

Talking bout your neighbor’s kids

And his two bit loser exwives

But the only loser I see here

Is you sittin’ in the dark

Trying to live your life through others

across your empty front yard

So I’ll wave a happy good mornin’

With a Margarita in my hand

Kick up my feet on the front porch railing

And listen to a classic rock band

I’ll give you somethin’ to talk about

So you can feel better than me

I am too busy to sit on that throne

For the sad, and the lonely

performance poetry
