Living Like I Never Was

Vanished

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

It feels like something I’m not meant to see

Wearing this smile and invisibility

Living a life lost, somewhere in a dream

Where I am seen and loved for being me

I’m camouflaged in wanting to belong

Trying to bridge the gap between me and destiny

Living the lyrics of my favorite songs

That everybody knows but will not sing

Vanishing is easy, if you really want to know

Without the light, we all just fade away

When everything you ever wanted begins letting go

And you’re left alone with words you’ll never say

We all fade each day even just a tiny bit till our time comes.

Beautiful writing, Kelli. A whole piece of reflection at a time when most of us feel invisible.

  • Well written… my favourite line is the same as Lamar’s: “ Without the light, we all just fade away”

Nice entry, Kelli! Love the photo and this line stood out for me. -Without the light, we all just fade away-
