Little Sister

A kindred spirit

Do you see the void?

It’s hidden, nice and deep.

The hole goes on for miles,

The rim slippery and steep.

I’ve learned to hide the darkness,

To cover up the hole.

A smile here, a quick laugh there,

Hides the despair within my soul.

But there is one who is no fool.

She knows that smile well.

My girl, my sweet, she sees too deep!

My smile does not sell.

This gift, this love, what will I do?

Why have I been so blessed?

Make my heart forever true,

Oh, One who loves me best!
