Little Miss Dress Up
A free verse poem about my earliest memories of dressing up
Dressing up was
my form of art.
I got to transform myself
into someone enchanting and fictitious.
One day,
I was a pink princess.
On another day,
I was an auburn-haired Barbie doll.
Dressing up was
my method of play therapy.
It became a solitary game of,
"Who could I turn into next?"
Some little girls used crayons,
I used costumes and make-up.
Some little girls used paint,
I used glitter and dolls.
Little Miss Dress Up
is now reincarnated.
She's still around today
but with different costumes, props and accessories.
