a poem

Listen

Listen

Do you hear the forest sing?

Of course not

It's choking

stifled

By exhaust

as pinning pines burn

Listen

Listen

The birds chime bellows

ushering not morning

But a slow lamentful drowning

No thrashing, No screams

Only sinking,

slowly, into the deep

Who?

Who?

Do you hear the owl’s question?

Of course not

Would he keep asking

If an answer came forth?

His wisdom to be ignored

Forevermore

Listen

Listen

The beats become rests

Can you hear the silence?

The wailing?

Or the whimpers

Of the crows?

Soon to be

Nevermore

Nevermore

Love the flow of this, the wordplay with nature, and the message about how destructive we have been. Awesome stuff!

Oh. I mean, a bit unexpected, but I have some pricking tears here. I think it was when the bears became rests... Which was fantastic but so affecting.
