Lingering, you paused with a full circle and added more hot water

remember when I was considering to leave you

And we moved in together again

You yelled at me

Washed over like a wave

And silently, cut me

Down

It was with a slam to my hand with the drawer

You didn’t apologize

I knew it was on purpose

It didn’t hurt that bad

But I knew that you meant it and you knew it too, though you said it was an accident

And your wave hit me like a sickly bubbly foam

Teasing my feet

Whispering to let me know

There was nothing I could do

No one can do anything

And even a policeman might walk by

And say nothing at all

“The frog won’t notice the temperature getting slowly hotter and hotter as you gradually add in the boiling water, until it’s burning alive.”
