Like You Told Me

Sharon's Song

By BrenPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

i thought of you a minute ago

and how it's been so long

i like to think you're doing well

kicking goals and staying strong

it was a cold Canberra winter

It snowed in eighty two

they turned your gas off

cause you didn't pay the bill

i had to boil your jug

just to do the dishes

while the day time tv

slowly crushed my soul

i was waiting for you

while you waited

for something else

waiting for you

while you waited

a world and a half

away from me

i was waiting for you

while you waited

another life away

i was waiting for you

while you waited

for me not to be waiting

you said to me remember;

"Whatever ever it is you think you see

how ever you think you feel

and what you might think you want

what you think you really need

- it's not me

you're my mate

...

that's it!"

She hugged me tight and hard

i knew she was right

but i was a selfish prick

we drifted

and assumed

our separate lives
