Light Within

The sun is setting in this cold dark place, the fire has dwindled and has finally gone out.

The lantern is lit with a rush then flame.

Nothing will ever be the same.

Looking out into the darkness, my eyes struggle to see to focus on a creature who's been following me. Its eyes glow with a hint of my light.

But its fur screams appetite.

Safe and secure this lantern I hold, is a sword and shelter to guard me from woe. A false sense of bravery that comes and then goes.

Turning up the lantern glows.

Now I see clearly what had been following me, a child, a woman and an old lady. Visible to only me, my lantern saw what I could not see.

Tall I stand to face what is mine.

My inner child, the woman I am, is broken, then taken in hand as the old lady comforts me in the light of this lantern I finally see what exactly becomes of me.
