Lifeline

A Journey Through Verses

Verses

Solid State

I stand here

Inert

Facing forward

Watching life amongst the outlandish

I can now choose

A new path

A new venture

A new light or darkness

As I look right

I see familiar faces

They beckon with a waft of the arm

I smile

Their gestures become an invitation

Calling my sobriquet

I look away

I focus to the left

I see faceless spirits cloaked in formal attire

They all readjust their ties simultaneously

Their eyes then pierce through mine

A chortle

Just as welcoming

I avert my eyes downward

I hear a crowd through billowing fog

I witness arms springing through the air

They rise and fall

No faces

No solicitation

Just hedonism

I wake from my stupor

Averting my attention upward

I observe a blinding euphoria

No faces, solicitation, or guidance

Just unlimited prospective

So, I face forward

Bemused

Where

do I go next?

Who do I choose to be?

Right, Left, Down, or Up

Lifeline

Remind me of darkness

Remind me of light

Remind me of the madness you assumed I would fight

Remind me of heaven

Remind me of hell

Remind me of all the loss as well

And give me a lifeline

And tell me the world will be fine

I promise you here tonight

That I won’t cave, that I will fight

So give me a lifeline

Cause in my world

We will unite

In my world

We will strive

In my world

We will all live as one

If you just give me a lifeline

Tonight…

Remind me of pain

Remind me of lust

Remind me of the carnage from up above

Remind of guilt

Remind me of love

Remind me of what life is made of

And give me a lifeline

And tell me the world will be fine

I promise you here tonight

That I won’t cave, that I will fight

So give me a lifeline

Cause in my world

We will unite

In my world

We will strive

In my world

We will all live as one

If you just give me a lifeline

Tonight…

Lifeline: A Journey Through Verses 11

So don’t tell me of race

Don’t tell me of Gods

Just show me a face so I can build trust

Don’t tell me of signs

Don’t tell me of crimes

Just pretend I am blind

So I can see with my own two eyes

As you give me a lifeline

And tell me the world will be fine

I promise you here tonight

That I won’t cave that I will fight

So give me a lifeline

Cause in my world

We will unite

In my world

We will strive

In my world

We will all live as one

If you just give me a life

Give me a lifeline

Cause in my world

We will unite

In my world

We will strive

In my world

We will all live as one

If you just give me a lifeline

Tonight…
