Can you hear the leaves sing lullabies to the swaying of the grass

They speak to me as I walk beneath the cool shades of the trees

Under the towering oak and sycamore trees, in stillness, I listen

They speak not words for the ears which do not understand

But tell instead the stories of all they have seen as years faded

They remember all the secrets of those who confided their fears

Soothing and reassuring the lonely hearts,

when they cried tears of loss, pain, sorrow, hopelessness and shame.

Trees rejoice in those who brough love and happiness to their boughs

The wind plays its melody as the leaves reminisce and remember

And they welcome me, inviting me to tell them my story

I lift my face to the sky and wind

The leaves sway and the wind sings

I begin!

++

It's April...the leaves sing lullabies to the swaying of the grass

Listen closely, as you walk beneath the cool shades of the trees

Smell the pureness of the wildflowers, they bloom gloriously

The towering oak and sycamore trees are still...listen!

They speak not words for the ears which do not understand

But for the enlightened ones, far beyond where dreams collide

Ah, the stories of all they have seen as years faded

The secrets of those who confided their fears

Tears of loss, pain, sorrow, hopelessness and shame

They hear and commiserate

Rejoice, you who brough love and happiness to their boughs

The wind plays a melody, the trees reminisce and remember

And they welcome all, inviting us to tell them our stories

Lift your faces to the sky and wind

The leaves sway and the wind sings

Now begin anew!

I do believe Joyce Kilmer said it best, "I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree". But yours comes close, Antoni.

Such calming words. Nature never fails to uplift if we really listen and see. Lovely words.

Well-wrought! The earth quakes and then, in stillness, listens.

This was amazing-the title captured my mind-I use to call a hockey player The Richter Scale-his name is Mike Richter haha. I got nice spring vibes from this

  • This indeed was lovely and had a true spring feel. In the mood for a few flowers now.

Lovely poem. Love how the wind feels on my skin. And the sounds the leaves makes.
