Don't pretend to be who you're not
Because they don't know that gift you got
It's not about fitting into their puzzle
It's about speaking up, take off that muzzle
She came to realize she doesn't fit
She's at her wits end, ready to quit
She tried to finish school, but she wanted more
She craved love, but she couldn't chase it anymore
She didn't fit in as a small lonely child
And she didn't fit with the clichΓ© of girls acting wild
She didn't fit into the space defined by society
Everyone telling her what to think and who to be
Negative thoughts told her dreams never come true
Her purpose seemed to be slipping away from her too
She always wanted that fairy tale marriage
But, ended up alone pushing her baby carriage
She didn't fit into their beliefs and stereotypes
Cooking and cleaning just to be a man's wife
She slaved day and night just trying to survive
Working minimum wage at a nine to five
She worked her butt off to provide for her children
She would go hungry for days, just to feed them
It never seemed worth it when that money came in
Because after bills were payed, she was broke once again
She cried herself to sleep every night asking why
Asking God what she did to deserve this hard life
That's when change came to help her battle this fight
God gave her a promise to make things right
All she had to do was hold on to faith and hope
And keep holding onto that painful burning rope
She held onto faith and faced her shadows and demons
She realized you can't always trust the ones' you're keeping
She no longer needs to be someone she's not
She's pushing forward with the strength she's got
Don't try to be what they want, be who you are
Because being different will get you far
